Jmootx: In previous recessions, the advice was to Buy the strongest of the group (i.e the ones that had the least percentage decline) That has not proved to be a good strategy because the Companies are staggering their announcements about shortfalls and even updating them for the worse within 2 weks. (NT , CSCO)

Since no one has a clue on future earnings, is it a better strategy to buy the strongest large cap in the group (least percentage decline) or the L.C with the largest percentage drop/ earnings.(last year basis).
