- 1x does double current cdmaOne capacity
two basic ways of doubling capacity, doubling the bandwidth or fixing bugs, even basic ones like coherent and non-coherent transmission, or lowering all others on the cocktail party or just tracking them all to be able to cancel them in ones ear (hmm, but that takes a lot of horse power)
-improvements in battery life are primarily due to improved power amplifier performance.
Only applicable for QCOM, no??
(whats the latest hype on guardbands for trying to save some processing power and efficiency of linear Power Amplifiers??)
In contrast GSM has achieved its longer and longer stand-by-times by improving the protocol of the networks and handsets, minimizing the time for having to wake up those sleeping, battery saving transistors, even the battery itself.
But that also means the transistors have to be woken up, figure out what happened while asleep, track and lock on to that everchanging mobile channel.. (China attempt at combining the best of the two, rural and crowded cities)
That takes a lot of battery even when awake on crowded cocktailparties, just to figure out to whisper or shout to be heard, not to totally roll over the other partying.
Ilmarinen.
P.S. According to twin-studies by the Ilmarinen Group the high acoustic power level at many parties is to ensure that nobody gets a chance to voice something which might make a fool out of them, also ensures a more solid, intrusive bodily contact (a smart way of getting to the point)
P.P.S That basic mechanism is usually lost at cocktail parties, which is why they tend to end early, bless them. |
