Good morning Cheryl, Thanks for the link and re-posting the article. The story of the development of this new class of product is fascinating.

Recently in the Milwaukee area a veterinarian group put an ad campaign together to talk pet owners into bringing in their animals to be "blood donors" because of critical short supply. I don't remember what the surgical procedure was for canines, but there was a need.

This was a very disturbing TV and radio ad to me as I was already aware of the Biopure product. Why would anyone put their healthy animal at risk and inconvenience when there was a perfectly good product available? I don't have the answer, but I've not heard the radio ad or seen any further TV information on the subject. So it was either a problem that went away or the ad was of a very limited budget. It ran for a few weeks in Dec. or Jan.

In the article they indicate that the basic blood product was taken from slaughtered animals. I had the impression that it was taken from live cattle. I'll send a note to the company and see if I can get this clarified.

Best regards, Tom
