Justice: giving to each his due

Everyone is due or deserving of FREEDOM from the unwanted attentions and intentions of others. Isn't it lucky that our society recognizes this?! JUSTICE!

The offer of help or assistance to anyone does not compel their acceptance. They may have entirely different notions of what is a benefit, or a detriment.

I certainly would not want to receive respect from someone who gives it equally to every killer, tramp, or pig. It might be an insult to the pig, but certainly to one of us. A purported value which admits of no discrimination is not a moral value. Fortunately, respect is not something that can be forced on me, no more than it can be forced from me.

It would be an interesting world, though, if there were no moral judgements! A man would say "I love you, Honey" to his wife; And he would say it to the tramp and the thief, and the gangster who slashed his tires. The wife would certainly feel honored to be valued to the same degree as all these others! And talk about the little children growing up to joyfully remember those special feelings of appreciation from the halcyon days of childhood! Glorious!
