Ish, you mean the same Senator Byrd who belonged to the Klu Klux Klan during his twenties and referred to the KKK as "an effective force in the struggle against communism and in the promotion of traditional American values." The same Senator Byrd who in 1964, demonstrated his mastery of procedure by filibustering the Civil Rights Act for more than 14 hours, one of the longest such delays in Senate history. The same Senator Byrd who voted against the Supreme Court nominations of Thurgood Marshall, and Clarence Thomas. The same Senator Byrd who said he would never fight in an integrated armed forces. "Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds," Someone should call the 911 hotline of political ambulance chaser Jesse Jackson? Ooops, I forgot, he's a Democratic politician isn't he?
