John and all,

OT: Golf courses, the semi-definitive word.

I couldn't resist running the "most golf courses" question through the ever-amazing Google. As a public service, here are my results (I offer no brief for the sources):

State with highest number of golf courses: Florida with 1190; then California with 950 and Michigan with 910.

County with the most golf courses: Maricopa (AZ) with 168 followed by Palm Beach Country with 150.

County with most golf courses per square mile: Palm Springs, Ca.
