Kealoha - Re: "Dvorak"
I haven't seen the article - so I can't make any comments directly.
However, Dvorak has made some consistent anti-Intel editorials in the recent past.
About 7 or 8 months ago he wrote an editorial describing excess heat problems with Intel's forthcoming (at that time) MMX devices. He didn't distinguish between Pentium and Klamath. He predicted the "excess heat" would delay the introduction.
Nevertheless, Intel introduced the Pentium MMX on schedule on January 8, 1997, and Notebook computers with the device appeared instantaneously - no heat problems. And NO RETRACTIONS FROM DVORAK, EITHER!
Credibility problems?
Then just a few weeks before the AMD K6 introduction time, he wrote an editorial again blasting Intel's Pentium and praising the blazing speed of HIS AMD K6 machine. Again, this was written BEFORE the K6 launch, so clearly he had an evaluation machine given to him by ---- guess who? An objective analysis?
He didn't bother to mention that the machine was furnished to him by AMD. Now, the practice of furnishing PC's to journalists for evaluation is common - but AT LEAST HE SHOULD HAVE STATED THE MACHINE CAME FROM AMD - DIRECTLY TO HIM.
Oh,well. Dvorak has a bug up his you-know about Intel. Intel makes too much money, they have a monopoly, Pentiums should be free, etc. He's probably in Washington DC right now lobbying to have Intel Corp. nationalized and turned into a non-profit organization.
