Fund, thanks for the post. It's very common for high tech companies to be a party of some kinda patent suit. As a matter of fact, CIEN was sued by Pirelli for patents infringement long before CIEN went public. Like in majority of similar cases, after dragging on for 4-5 years, CIEN and Pirelli quietly settled out of court.

So at this time I'm not at all concerned about the CIEN/CORV legal battle. 5 years from now, I'll probably see a PR announcing their settlement with no disclosure of details of course.

I watched the vicious fight between AVNT and CDN with amazement. With the evidence presented, I thought the decision should be handed down against AVNT in a flash, and should be final. The case dragged on for years, and the alleged technology stolen from CDN has long become a dinosaure.

I guess I have seen enough of patent infringement suits between companies that they are not a factor in my decision to own or short a stock.

Regards,

Tom
