My gosh, you take me back thirty plus years. These are much like the questions I, as a draft refusing pacifist, faced from draft board, judge, military people, etc. all the time. "You say you won't kill. Suppose a commie (this was at the height of the red menace, remember, shortly after the Cuban missile "crisis") has machine gun pointed at your family and is about to open fire on them, and you are chained to the wall but managed to get your hands on a pistol and have to decide whether to kill the soldier to save your family or let the soldier kill your family. What do you do?"

Obviously there is no good answer to the question. Or if there is one, I never found it.

But your questions are in line with that dilemma.
