I can understand the fear, and have no problem with people wanting to use surnames. I think they're fooling themselves if they think using a surname protects them though. People who really know how to use the net, and are motivated, can find out just about anything about a person regardless.

The CEO of SUN said it best during the controversy over Intel's chip design a couple of years ago. "There is no privacy on the internet, so get over it".
