Arete Industries Affiliate, Seventh Generation Technologies, Inc. Demonstrates Revolutionary New Software at Robot Expo BOULDER, Colo., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Arete Industries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AREE) announced that on Saturday, March 3rd, 2001, affiliate Seventh Generation Technologies, Inc. (7GT) demonstrated its revolutionary software for the first time at a Robot Expo in Boulder, Colorado.
"It was exciting for the team to get so much attention after working so hard," said Thomas Y. Gorman, COO/CFO of Arete Industries and Chairman of 7GT. "Bill Hutchison was interviewed on the 9 o'clock evening news on WB2. The Daily Camera interviewed Ken Stephens. The Denver Post interviewed Matt Morris, and Clay Thompson, who was dressed as a robot, was the hit of the Expo."
The quote of the day was from Ken Stephens in the Boulder Daily Camera. "There's the classic robots that do housework and vacuum," he said. "Wouldn't it be nice to point at the cat, for instance, and say, 'See the cat? Don't vacuum that.'"
"It sounds funny," continues Gorman, "but everyone immediately understands the value of the software we are developing."
The Digital Brain integrates vision, audition, touch, and speech recognition inputs within 7GT's proprietary neural network software. The Digital Brain is based on 7GT's patented adaptive system that combines a neural network and genetic algorithm for fast and efficient optimization for any control challenge.
The software can be trained to comprehend spoken language, in the sense that it can recognize and name objects in its vision, and can listen to spoken instructions and rules and learn what to do when it encounters certain situations. 7GT's approach will dramatically decrease the amount of time currently required to program an industrial robot for a new or changing task. Like the human brain, 7GT's software integrates robotic sensors with manipulators and effectors that allow it to operate on the outside world with maximum flexibility and the ability to rapidly learn.
The first pilot demonstration was on March 3, 2001 at the Robot Expo. The release of the Beta Version is scheduled for June 21, 2001 (For trial and development purposes only) and the first commercial release is scheduled for June, 2002.
