phillip- while i agree with your statement, in theory, the implication is that all it takes is for the sr vp to "will" profitability and that will make it so. i cant believe previous management didnt want profits, and think they were also determined to have it happen. i think it will take more than this, it will take a leader with vision and a fresh outlook on apple, its brand recogition, and products. i really am doubting that dr gil is the guy. what happened last fall on the bonus thing still sticks in my craw. ive recently finished reading the book, _StartUp_, the story of GO, written by jerry kaplan. it has numerous references to apple in the sculley days that caused me to scratch my head (re management) - i dont think jobs is the guy, but i would like to see someone dynamic at the reins there...
