Roadrunner Seeks Alliance with Coyote

March 5, 2001, TEMPE- An unidentified executive within the ACME Corporation confirmed today that talks are underway between the Roadrunner and Coyote. Those talks, according to the executive, revolve around a strategic alliance regarding how to best go about capturing the Roadrunner.
This alliance, if true, would come as a surprise to most in the desert-animal-chase industry, mainly because the Roadrunner has focused for years on Coyote avoidance.
While the Coyote has struggled in his attempts to capture the Roadrunner (on many occasions propelled off the edge of a cliff by his ACME rocket skates, pausing in the air for a moment while waving goodbye, then falling with a whistling sound until he puffs into the sand far below), some consider his partnership with the Road Runner an ideal match. Merrill Lynch analyst Henry Blodget, for one, likes the idea.
"It isn't a question of who's been landed on by an anvil and squashed into a wheezing, accordian-like beast on several occassions," says Blodget, "it's really a question of who's been out there trying to catch Roadrunners for an awfully long time."
The Coyote has publicly stated that he will catch the Roadrunner, on a pro forma basis, some time during the fourth quarter. |
