One percent is always larger than 3/4 of a percent. Do you mean.....

I still think I said what I meant. IOW if 1% of 50.00 is half a point, I will give it 3/4 (the larger of the two). How is 1/2 a point (1%) larger than 3/4 in this example? Maybe I am missing something. Though your last sentence does fit exactly what I meant and what I said.
