Pat traditionalist society? I don't think I have ever mentioned a pat traditionalist society. Quite the contrary, I said that I considered a liberal society, with civil liberties, respect for the individual, and tolerance of religious and philosophical difference, to be a component of civilization.
Also, I don't know what you imagine my faith to be, but I am a philosophical theist with no ecclesiastical commitments, more or less a religious liberal.
Anyway, I think that some views are preferable to others, as you do. I consider ideas to have implications, which I have tried to draw out. I cannot, of course, argue with your "optimism", and I congratulate you on it. It is, to me, an anomaly...... |
