I would give up a little of my freedom to live in a crime free society....wouldn't you ?

Not saying that there are no problems living in ME. Just that crime is not one of them !

A little bit of freedom, yes....a lot of freedom, no.

The problem with the more strictly anti-crime states is that they get too carried away with law and order. Sure, Singapore's streets are clean and no one leaves gum wrappers around, but do I want to risk getting 40 lashes when I don't properly dispose of my Puppy Chow packaging?

I think we need to hold people accountable but not get so carried away that we live in a police state. What I don't agree with is making excuses for these kids based on their childhoods or their brain chemistry or whatever. Excuses breed more bad behavior; they teach us that we are not in control, so we might as well not even bother trying to control our behavior.

IMHO.....
