agreed but you have to define it better, IMBO. Distribution via employers is not without it's advantages. While grouping is required that does not contradict "free market" concept. Benefits are part of the compensation plan and should be treated as such. Bad benefits subtract from the package.

the result is completely opposite. Individual policies are subject to anti-selection and hence would be priced much higher to reduce the risk. Insurance companies would require more profit to achieve same risk/reward ratios. Add extra distribution costs and your price is through the roof.

re:Why should your employer pay your health insurance and not your car insurance or home owners insurance?
you will find it really hard to define the value of comp package and car scratches are rarely life-threatening
