The stocks that will lead the next bull market will be the stocks with the best "expected" growth in sales and earnings. IMHO, the leaders will be companies that meet two criteria: 1) They take full advantage of new technology or business models to cut costs, provide additional value, or speed time to market, and 2) They rapidly adapt to the current business climate (avoid deep financial trouble, keep key personnel, prune their product lines of weak products, and continue development of new products). I don't think the next bull market will be as innovative and economy-transforming as the last. I believe the premium will be on execution rather than innovation (Biotech may be the exception here).
