Met@box Shares Soar After Stock Sale Raises DM12 Million


Frankfurt, March 5 (Bloomberg) -- Met@box AG shares rose as much as 48 percent after the German maker of Internet set-top boxes said it raised 12 million marks ($5.7 million) by selling 1.39 million new shares to investors.

Met@box said it sold the stock for a little less than the recent share price, adding that GEM Global Emerging Markets, a U.S. investment firm, was the biggest investor in the share sale. The stock rose as much as 1 euro to 3.10 euros, valuing the company at 43.4 million euros ($40.4 million).

Separately, German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported today that supervisory board member Manfred Schumacher left his post two weeks ago. Met@box, whose shares have lost 90 percent in the last six months, is being investigated for securities fraud and manipulation of its stock price.
