John,

<< I remain un impressed with the tack of your efforts to promote skepticism and disbelief >>

If it is alight with you, I don't think I'll lose any sleep over that.

I do not participate on this thread, or any other, to impress you, or anyone else.

It is also not my intent "to promote skepticism and disbelief", but I'm not here to promote or validate hype or cheerlead either.

When all is said and done, QUALCOMM technology can stand on its own merits, and it doesn't need to be hyped.

<< You argue against comparing peak data rates when you surely must know that there is no other possible standard of comparison at this point. >>

There most certainly is. Peak data rates can be translated into practical and typical user rates, even if theoretical, under various conditions and for various applications.

When all is said and done, the transition to wireless data that we are painfully undergoing, involves a lot more than raw speed and peak rates.

<< Look at NOK who still hasn't delivered a high vuality CDMA product and who is 18 months behind in their GPRS development and wants another 6 months. >>

My daughter has been using the 5185i for the last few weeks. I used it extensively last week. Let me assure you, Nokia is delivering a high "vuality" tri-mode CDMA product, using a chip of their design. Darned high quality. judging from the low return rate, and my use under a variety of conditions. My wife wants one but she is going to inherit the CDM9000 (maybe <g>) when I take delivery of the new Kyocera 6035, which I am delighted to see is due in Verizon's shops shortly.

<< NOK ... is 18 months behind in their GPRS development and wants another 6 months. >>

The first part of that statement is TOTALLY inaccurate, John ... the second part is inaccurate, in that they will be delivering on their original committed schedule ... if in fact they deliver 3rd quarter, with volume in 4th quarter. If they don't make that commitment, they are deservedly due some criticism.

<< After all this is the NOK thread, where exaggeration is the order of the day. >>

Yes. It IS the Nokia thread, John.

As for exaggeration being the order of the day here ... I appears that is how you interpret it.
