That is a bunch of poppycock, the laser technology used in fiber optics was not a result of the failed miserably Star Wars project. Fiber Optics and Laser technology has been ongoing since the early 60's twenty years before Reagan got his stupid Star Wars glitter in his eyes. No useful technology came out of Star Wars that wouldn't have occurred as soon without it. Why even the name was copied from a 1977 movie!
