I've never seen Microsoft meet a deadline for software.

What makes you think they'll meet one on their first attempt to produce hardware?

My bet is that Japan is just the first place where X-box is delayed -- just like the announcement that the PSX2 launch would be delayed in Europe was the first hint for problems with the U.S. launch.
