Does your brother's family live in the Northeast? I live about 20 minutes from Lyme, the epicenter, and Lyme disease is a common, and often devastating illness. I'm so sorry his child has a severe case. Gosh I hope they come up with something soon.

Yes, adoption is tough, and adopting outside of your race and culture has all sorts of hidden rewards and pitfalls. I always smile when people tell me I did my daughter a good turn by adopting her. She is the person who made me a mother, and that's a gift more precious than anything.
