People aren't squat if there aren't plants to feed them, minerals to mine, air to breath, oceans to evaporate, animals to render and whatnot.

These things then serve as resources for people. That doesn't make them as important as people.

Why people would resist including these elements into their sphere is beyond me.

A lot of people believe in inalienable human rights. They would not apply those same rights to an animal and might not think of plants or minerals as having any rights.

To look at it another way I'll use an example I posted here before. If I could only save one I would save the life of an innocent child before I would save a tiger. I would resist the notion that the tiger would have as much importance or the same rights as the child. I would certainly resist the notion that a plant or rock had the same importance or rights. Is this still beyond you or do you understand (even if you do not agree) where I am comming from.
