I think taxes are too complicated a subject to apply a brushstroke philosophy of how to collect equally.

having said that, I think the sales tax or value added tax is the only way to collect more taxes from people who use the most products and services in the country.

With an income tax, we already pay almost 50% of our income for FED tax, state tax, ss tax, city tax etc.

Now if we had 100% of income in our pockets, we could afford to pay 50% sales tax and still ocme out even. But if we dont spend it all we would hae more money in our pockets.
