The level of regard for the value of life, and lack of fear of the results of one's actions has changed dramatically in the last few generations, IMHO. Comparison of American and English crime of several types should be viewed only after consideration of each country's drug laws. I believe a significant percentage of US prison population is serving time for drug related crime. JohnD
