Linux has been pretty much a failure in every market besides the thin server and low end UNIX server market. For whatever reason, Linux didn't gain any success in any embedded devices. At this point, I give Linux, at best, a remote shot at being remotely successful among certain specialized users. I see no real threat from Linux at this point. And considering Sharp is promoting it makes me to give it a near zero chance to make much damage.

I'd like to see wireless PALM able to operate worldwide...anyone have idea as to timeframe by which this will happen!

Unitl a carrier starts offering global data roaming. As far as I see, a GSM universal radio module could be put in a Palm at any time, if it is not already available for the European market. Later this year, Palm will support BlueTooth, making this a nonissue.
