I'm a little worried about the world's most powerful office being vacated, even briefly.
Well, leaving aside snide comments about how it already is rather vacant... here's some snide commentary on Bush's foreign policy record to date (yes, he has one):
"Our military is low on parts, pay, and morale," candidate Bush warned in his acceptance speech. ... But once ensconced in the White House, Bush climbed down, declaring that Clinton's military budget was sufficient after all. ... At some point, Bush is going to make some foreign policy move—like keeping Americans in the Balkans—that shows he's decided that Clinton's defense and foreign policy were right after all.
Oh, sorry. He's already done that.

US foreign/defence and economic policy are what most concern the rest of the world, BTW. Mainly because they're the bits that affect us. This is one of the reasons why Clinton is generally well-regarded abroad, because whatever his personal flaws his leadership has generally been good - well, at least satisfactory. |
