NEW YORK, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- During a ceremony at the opening of the Nasdaq
Stock Market(R) in New York, Leap Wireless International, Inc. (Nasdaq: LWIN),
an innovator of wireless communications services, today unveiled the company's
new look, including a new logo, tagline and Web site.

The new Leap look includes a "flying L" graphic, designed to suggest forward
motion and to exemplify the company's commitment to reach new markets with
innovative, consumer-focused communications services. In addition to the new
Leap purple and metallic signature, the company will add the tagline "Another
Leap Innovation" to its existing Cricket logo on everything from advertising to
packaging Leap also plans to incorporate the same tagline with its future
wireless data services, which are expected to begin rolling out starting in the
first half of 2001.
"Our new look is more than just a logo and color scheme. It communicates who we
are -- a customer-focused company providing innovative communications solutions
for the mass consumer market," said Harvey White, Leap's chairman and CEO. "By
tagging all of our services with 'Another Leap Innovation,' we are laying the
groundwork to build brand awareness as we plan to add wireless data services to
the growing Leap family. Our goal is for customers to automatically think of
Leap as the communications innovator behind all of our services."
Leap pioneered Cricket Comfortable Wireless service, which is an affordable
alternative to traditional landline phone service that allows customers to make
all their local calls from within their local calling area and to receive
incoming calls from anywhere for the same low, flat rate every month. Leap
recently announced that its Cricket customers tripled during the fourth quarter
of 2000 to reach more than 190,000.
"Our Cricket service has achieved what we think is industry-leading brand
awareness, and our rapid customer growth shows that Cricket is quickly becoming
a household name in markets across the country," said Susan G. Swenson, Leap's
president and chief operating officer. "Cricket Comfortable Wireless service
remains the cornerstone of our business, and we continue to expect to reach
approximately one million customers by the end of 2001. Our new look is designed
to build on this success as we introduce what are expected to be fresh new
approaches to wireless data service."
Leap today also unveiled a remodeled Web site reflecting the company's new,
revitalized look. Located at www.leapwireless.com, the site includes an
easy-to-
use pressroom, an upcoming events section, and an informative investor relations
section.
