Excellent post Dave, I thought the same statements were right on the money.

I also wonder if our constant stream of violence in T.V's, movies, and video games is having a desensitizing effect on kids.

When parents took kids hunting in the old days, they saw the reality of the violence up close, felt the heart of a deer stop beating, and became more in tune with what happens when you shoot a weapon. Today, they just hit rewind, or play the game over again and again without the reality really being felt.

I wonder what would happen if a movement was started to charge a fee to movie companies and purveyors of violence in the mass media? After all, we pay a huge tax for cigarettes largely due to their cost on our society.
