Hi Mike-- Here is more to support the DSL stats

today, from UBS Warburg--
" We believe that DSL is emerging as a global technology and hence we are
examining the worldwide market. We provide an overview on international
markets where we believe DSL will thrive in the near future (2001-02) and
explain why we believe that the current inventory woes that have plagued
this industry for several months will resolve in time for another solid DSL
year in 2001. We believe that this is the first report that has been built
on a truly "Global DSL" model - what we call "The Supermodel."
Our key conclusions are as follows:
1) We forecast that the worldwide DSL subscriber base will grow to 15.5
million subscribers from 5.8 million at end-2000. We expect Japan, Germany,
Korea, China and France to become major emerging DSL markets in 2001-02.
2) We believe that the industry-wide DSL CPE inventory issue that started
during the 2nd half of 2000 should come to an end during first half of this
year. We expect the DSL shipment will resume momentum after 1Q and exit 2001
with well over 20 percent sequential growth.
3) We conclude that there will be approximately 150 million DSL subscribers
by the end of 2005 as large international opportunities such as China
emerge."
