George W. a gentleman? So what-- big deal. He's also moral, god-fearing, decent, et al. Are these the only credentials one needs to be the leader of a super power these days? Oh yes, I left out good breeding and the right connections (can you say "Poppy" Bush?). How about intelligence and charisma, both of which Mr. Bush seems, shall we say, lacking in? Just 'cause he's a "nice" guy, don't make him fit to be pres-i-dent, now does it? (Mr. Clinton, on the other hand, has an abundance of each, he just appears to have had a little trouble keeping his hands out of the cookie jar {and the honey pot...}). Frankly I'd rather see Dick Cheney (ticker issue aside) in the top spot, or Colin Powell, or possibly any one of his cabinet members, all of whom are quite possibly brighter than Mr. Bush. How about Jesse Ventura--I'd vote for him in a heartbeat over G.W.--the man is not afraid to speak his mind, is charismatic, and no dummy at that. No beady little eyes and pursed lips there. Every time I hear Mr. Bush Speak, I tense up, waiting for a stumble, a stutter, an opportunity to strangle himself with his own toungue. And every time he finishes speaking, I am relieved that he has not unduly embarressed himself and our nation. At least not yet (I wait with baited breath...). Nope, I'll take my world leaders with a dash of charisma and a sprinkle of intelligence, thank you. I mean hey, if you're in favor of the republican mandate, that's one thing, but to ascribe any quality of greatness to George W. Bush is quite another. |
