I think demand started falling several months ago.

But after a period of extended demand exceeding supply customers did not really cancel or push out till it was too late.

So customers have inventory.

Fabs have inventory.

Distributors have inventory.

And this JIT crap is simply that.

In reality manufacturers who are doing it have simply forced distributors and manufacturers to carry it.
