I didn't duck the question. It has no answer because it is dependent upon the situation. There may have been a very good reason for all the killings that have been done through the centuries. Frankly, I don't see it but I wasn't there. People can get into all sorts of weird altered states and commit all sorts of atrocities, frequently out of misplaced patriotism, hegemony and religious fervor.

I haven't done this and can't possible relate to someone who has. Even if they explained it in modern language, I'm unlikely to get it. I have to be the judge of all right and wrong (mine, yours, theirs), but it is only my view based upon as much or as little information as I used. I think more information is better, but ultimately my morality is a vote of one. There is no absolute right or wrong, IMO, so I think you are starting from a false premise.
