Mr. Jeffery E. Forrest or JEF.............

Although Linnaeus's binomial nomenclature system occasionally produces a scientific name that sounds like its coiner had a sense of humor, such as Gorilla gorilla, human names are much more likely to raise an eyebrow or a smile. Let's look at some neat human names culled from the collection of veteran name collector Paul Dickson.

Sometimes parental creativity is inspired by last names. The parental Stars named their daughter Stella (Stella Star), the Forth family couldn't resist the name Sally (Sally Forth), and a couple named Cherry chose to name their daughter Etta (Etta Cherry). Two different families named Price saw the value in calling their children Worth and Fairest.

We admit we're especially fond of puns, but we think everyone can appreciate first and last name combinations that sound like other things. We're all familiar with the name of the late industrialist Armand Hammer, but imagine meeting Adam Baum, Holland Tunnell, Charlotte Roos, Asia Minor, and Barry Kuda. All are real names.
