They think they can shoot people because they have a gun. If they didn't have a gun, they would not shoot people. Many millions of people have guns and have never tried to shoot any one. In the past in the US guns were common but few people used them to shoot each other. In the Columbine case they planned for a long time. Its unlikely that any gun control short of a rigidly enforced complete ban would have stopped them. Tim
