Good ride, thanks. Now in post-shower cool down - ahhh. You're right of course, I was being presumptuous. I've always found it amusing that the Catholics aren't considered Christian by Fundamentalists. Neither are some of the Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Pentecostals. Don't even talk about Mormons. Go figure. To me it is pretty much all the same. I suppose people say that about wine too, but there is a difference to those who know it. And you do have to cultivate a taste for it.
I pretty much decided how I felt about the world at age 10. I probably become a little more animistic in my view after I studied physics and found the sterility of computer science to be incomplete as it pertains to consciousness. Twenty years ago I predicted analog would make a comeback. Neural nets kind of proved me right. I believe the digital implementations of them to be flawed (discontinuous, for the technogeeks out there).
Physics does weird things to you I guess. From my experience it either makes people real closed minded or very open minded. I don't think many people leave the process unchanged.
My religion, if you could call it that, is probably something like a mildly animistic, naturalistic paganism. The practice of it involves long hikes and philosophical discussion, when weather permits. Solo meditation takes place on the bike. In the home it is practiced daily, but informally, without all that weird stuff with crystals and whatnot (unnecessary showbiz). It's all in the mind and attitude. Think about consequences of behavior - that's all you need to set you in the right direction. JMO. |
