R: PETA, the acronym for : People for the ETHICAL treatment of Animals.. Wow!, What do I say? How can a caring person be against that..
Well they say, they don't like their tactics.. I don't like either in a few cases.. Violence begets violence.. You become what you are trying to overcome.. But of course it is not all violence.. And of course, the violated ( the ones that violate kittens and bunnies eyes with cosmetics) trumpet that to discredit the cause.. On the peaceful front:
They publish lists of companies, for peaceful economic boycott for caring people) that pour cosmetics and other chemicals in harmless animal orifices to make sure the vain and chic will not have a problem in those holes..
They bring out the fact, that companies shoot animals with different types of ammo to get the impact with real flesh..
And of course, the most controversial ones., wearing of fur, in our society, for VANITY only, not for warmth which I can understand .. And medical testing,, Well over testing, without care of the animal in mind, and in many cases, where
computer modeling would suffice.. And on and on..
Which boils down for human joy in most cases.. like presented within "The New Yorker" in the last month or so..
One about "Cock fighting In Oklahoma" and another about "Exotic Animal Hunting on a Texas Ranch".. Shooting half tame animals for the "thrill of the kill" by a fat a$$ in camo.
Sportsmen?? my A$$.. Cowards against the ethical treatment of animals..
Another animal, controlling his temper under difficult circumstances..

P.S. Thinking about this a moment,, I guess most of these people, grew up with too much concrete under their feet ...Their idea of animals and thier contribution to the essence of our life's system and well being comes from watching too many Disney movies.. Not enough REAL life experience of "Looking at clouds from both Sides Now"".. |
