China's Eastcom Purchases 100 WaveRider NCL1155's TORONTO, ONTARIO--

WaveRider Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: WAVC chart, msgs) a leading global provider of fixed wireless Internet access products, today announced it has expanded its business relationship with Hangzhou Lingtong Communications Enterprise Co., a subsidiary of Eastern Communications Enterprise Co. ("Eastcom") of China. Hangzhou Lingtong, a master Value-Added Reseller (VAR), has established a dedicated WaveRider sales and service team to sell and distribute WaveRider's NCL1155 wireless bridge/router throughout China.
Eastcom has purchased 100 NCL1155 wireless bridge/routers for distribution in China. The NCL1155 is the latest WaveRider product to receive China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) type approval.

Eastcom has recently delivered WaveRider's wireless NCL products to two of China's largest telecommunications carriers and has been providing a source of local product supply to WaveRider's Chinese customers.
Eastcom is a researcher, developer and producer of telecommunications equipment, optical transmission equipment and their ancillary products. The company is the largest manufacturer and supplier of cellular mobile telephones and cellular mobile systems equipment in China. Hangzhou Lingtong is Eastcom's distribution arm for its wireless communications products.
WaveRider in China
The advancement of the business relationship with Eastcom is the latest demonstration by WaveRider of its increasing presence in the Chinese market. In February, WaveRider participated in the Canadian Federal Government's Team Canada 2001 trade mission to China to establish and build relationships with Chinese companies and government representatives. The company has also applied for MII type approval for its Last Mile Solution(R) product family in China.
