"These show that in the first nine years of the 1990s, Japan’s net external assets jumped from $294 billion to $1.153 billion. Meanwhile America’s net external liabilities rocketed from $49 billion to $1,537 billion."

This says it all! Tell you the America's had better stop spending and start saving. Then again it may already be too late.

You all have to read Eamonn Fengletons book - 'In Praise of Hard Industries' It is a must read for all.
