It's the same line of reasoning when someone in At&T's upper level management told my friend that AT&T will not pay a dime to Qualcomm when they implement WCDMA.

My friend got me on the phone almost in a state of panic. "Is it true?", he asked me.

My answer?

Absolutely.

...and the same goes for DoCoMo.

The operator doesn't directly pay Q royalties, it's the manufacturers who pay them.

Why DoCoMo didn't just straighten out the reporter right away is beyond me. I don't understand why they would say "We're still deciding if we will pay...we'll see"

Ridiculous statement, is it not?
