BEDMINSTER, N.J., Mar 7, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Flarion, a new company that has developed a breakthrough wireless technology for the mobile Internet market, has won the Best of Show award in the Infrastructure category at Internet World Wireless 2001. The award was presented at the show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NewYork City on February 22.
During the show, Flarion demonstrated its flash-OFDM(TM) system, which provides reliable high-speed wireless Internet connectivity. With laptops connected through its wireless modems, Flarion enabled visitors to its booth to enjoy streaming videos, while simultaneously listening to streaming MP3's, exceeding a speed of 384 kilobits per second.
"Going into the Internet World Wireless show, we were very excited about our system," said Ray Dolan, president and CEO of Flarion. "Our recent field trials were successful, and we looked forward to showing the industry what Flarion was doing. The response we received from the attendees was overwhelming, and then being named Best of Show only added to our enthusiasm. We at Flarion are honored and proud to receive this award, especially given the strength of the field in the Infrastructure category."
The editorial team of Internet World magazine awarded all Best of Show winners. The judges placed priority on a product's ability to work with existing standards and the degree to which it contributes to the development of future Internet products and services. "Flarion wowed us with a solution for providing broadband access, at DSL speed, over a wireless connection", commented the judges from Internet World.
