Psychology? I dunno. All I can say is the same old tired thing -- until the potentially bullish scenario is invalidated, this is a time for caution. We have been in the dessert phase for awhile and I believe that nabbing those treats is much harder than just sliding up to the trough in the middle of the move.

I mean, what lies below where we are now? We have already come through tears, lamentations and margin calls, so under this is something much uglier. These guys are not fooling around in here. They do the chart reading and FA that we do and they know what's at stake. Maybe the big boys have loaded the boat sufficiently that they are not willing to lighten up for this go round until they push her up a few hundred more points.

I think a gap-up at this juncture is actually more dangerous for the bulls, unless they throw everything at her right away and send the bears screaming for cover.
