This would be rather self evident in that the header itself might have a prolonged sales pitch and possibly pricing information etc. The header would like have no other purpose and would not encourage any kind of conversation. Our policy has long been to allow thread headers to have links to outside web sites provided the thread is designed as an actual discussion thread on SI. You will note this in many other threads for example A@P's thread has links to his outside site as do several others. Btw, this site was and I believe still a free site unlike Jenna's site that charges a fee of some sort. Now my reading of Jeff's explanation tells me that any SI member can post a link in the header of a thread they create to any business they choose (hot dog stand..used car lot...P@D stock site) as long as it's in "an actual discussion thread on SI". It doesn't actually say this in the SI TOU but since Jeff said it's true and in fact Jenna has been doing it since 1997 (1997 per Jeff) i guess it's true. I'm a little confused here after reading my own post. Jeff suspended me for posting a link to Jenna's site on "an actual discussion thread on SI" because he didn't feel the Welcome Thread was the appropriate place for it. My thinking is that I asked a question that SI doesn't want to answer and I asked it on that "Gem" of a thread Welcome to Silicon Investor!
