AVBC AQUA VIE BEVERAGE CORP - Ralphs Division of Kroger Co. Joins Albertson's as
Aqua Vie Expands - Retail Presence in Southern California

New York, New York, Mar 07, 2001 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- Aqua
Vie Beverage Corporation announced that it has received authorization for
placement of its Hydrator(TM) line in over 300 Ralphs Grocery Company stores
throughout southern California. Placement in regional Ralphs stores, along with
recently announced availability through Albertson's, is a major component of
Aqua Vie's southern California retail distribution campaign aimed at achieving
"conspicuous retail availability" throughout the region by late spring. Ralphs
and Albertson's stores collectively represent approximately 70 percent of the
regional grocery business.

"We anticipate additional chain store acceptance by month end, and we look
forward to relatively rapid market penetration on the West Coast," said Thomas
Gillespie, president and chief executive officer.

Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Ralphs Grocery Company
currently operates 450 conventional and warehouse-style stores under the Ralphs
and Food 4 Less banners in southern California, Foods Co. in northern
California, Cala Foods and Bell Markets in the San Francisco Bay area, and
PriceRite in southern Nevada. Ralphs is a division of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR),
the nation's largest food retailer, with corporate offices in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Aqua Vie Beverage Corporation develops and markets all-natural, lightly
flavored, still (non-carbonated) bottled spring water. The company's low-calorie
alternative beverages are bacteria-free and contain no preservatives. Aqua Vie
produces and markets the Hydrator(TM) line of beverages in the United States and
Europe. This beverage line, comprised of seven low-calorie, all-natural
beverages that are lightly flavored and packaged in half-liter bottles, is
designed to increase one's personal consumption of water, naturally. The
underlying technology also serves as the delivery system for Aqua Vie's new line
of children's Hydrators(TM), PurePlay(TM), and Eau Vin(TM), Aqua Vie's line of
nonalcoholic wine and champagnes made from spring water. For further information
