Will NTAP NAS storage converge with SAN under OSN to become an actual NOS Network Operating System, is NextStep a step in this direction? If this becomes so, that through the convergence under opensource storage network convergence, then the Ellison ORCL and McNealy SUNW idea of the network being the operating system is a step closer. This is granted a server side model, but server side and client side technology is also converging as clients become so powerful that they too are becoming both client and servers more and more and not just network appliances. Seems this is a year for convergence and consolidation across the storage industry and server community.
