Well, yeah, but WHY? Now the traders are saying "short-covering, foreign buying, technical factors". Some go so far as to say that it was inevitable from the technical point of view. Are they the same people who were telling us only last week that the yield would almost certainly climb to 7.25? What technicals, exactly? I mean, I really, really don't understand the credit markets, and I don't usually take a look at the TYX chart in the morning. But I did check it out just now. As it stood at yesterday's close, there was NOTHING in it that would have suggested to me that it was gonna drop like a stone today. It said zip to me. But then I don't understand bonds....
