buying back shares is also a way of distributing the cash.

btw, DROOY told me that it will be more likely to buy back shares than pay a divvie in the event of a gold rally. THAT i think is a bad idea, as the shares will be more expensive then. the only stock buyback plans i have seen and liked over the past two or so years were those of UST (announced at $18) and BS (announced with the stock below 2). THAT makes sense...buy back shares when they're CHEAP and undervalued.
