I totally disagree with that and that the NASD was being unfair. The YHOO news was being leaked and they stopped the insiders from being able to dump it without the news being released officially. As far as other stocks, the nasd can't control the entire market. How did halting YHOO affect other stocks? No connection there. If YHOO put the news out during the day some other stocks might have reacted but instead they will react tomorrow. People could have sold them if they wanted to today and limit their risk with the YHOO news coming out.
Yes, it would have been better if YHOO released the news right when the stock was halted but they weren't ready to do that. Would it have been better to let YHOO stay open all day and let the price erode down t the teens and then let it announce the news after hours. People would have screamed about the news being leaked out.
If anyone is to blame it's YHOO who leaked the news before they were ready to released it.
The NASD handled it very well
