mr.mark, Thank You!, Thank You!, Thank You,! Thanks Norton System Works!, Thanks Norton System Works, Thanks Norton System Works, I THINK I just dodged a BULLET,
Received two e-mails from a trusted FRIEND, (i thought).
Jaws Rockpicker Bucket.jpg, was the attachment, I recognized his e-mail, also had SUBJECT, "Rock Picker Pics". everything looked good, opened picture just fine, all's well.
Then came another e-mail, did not have any Subject matter, but I recognized his e-mail, had an attachment, FEITICEIRA_NUA.JPG.pif,
I clicked to open and WARNING FLASHED, "This file contains Virus W95.MTX.DR, do you wish to open OR put in Quarantine?, I clicked to move to Quarantine, then went to Quarantine. One option was, Repair File, tried this and was told it could not be repaired, do you wish to DELETE, clicked on DELETE.
From there went to Norton System Works, Norton AntiVirus, clicked on Reports, View List Of Viruses, Find W95.MTX.DR, results are,
"This is a Windows virus. It also has a worm component infected with the same virus that spreads via e-mail. It also patches WSOCK32.DLL."
Went to Start/Find/WSOCK32.DLL, Ran it thru Virus Checker, came out clean.
Your thoughts on, AM I OK?, everything seems alright.
E-mailed back my Friend<?> and ask him to investigate and delete it from his computer if possible!
Fingers XXXX'ed, /jw
ps: Thanks for guiding me to Nortons! |
